New Vintage Ensemble announces ‘Shut Up & Read’ staged reading series schedule

The New Vintage Ensemble has announced the lineup, dates, and locations for their staged reading series, “Shut Up & Read,” celebrating the original works of local and regional playwrights.

Performances will be hosted on Sunday afternoons in Scranton and will be free and open to the public, but donations to the ensemble will be accepted.

The roster is as follows:

  • Sunday, March 29 at 2 p.m. at Ale Mary’s (126 Franklin Ave., Scranton): “My Condolences” by Mandy Boyle and “My Husband, The Urn” by Emily Halbing
  • Sunday, April 26 at 2 p.m. at POSH (404 N. Washington Ave., Scranton): “A Shower of Shorts,” including Matthew Hinton’s “Mercy,” John Schugard’s “The Living Element,” Iris Johnston’s “Someone Punched the Moon in the Face,” and Stef Szymanski’s “Skeletons”
  • Sunday, May 31 at 2 p.m. at POSH: “The Sequin Royale” by Paul Hood
  • Sunday, June 21 at 2 p.m. at POSH: “Galatea” by John Pivovarnick

Founded in 2013, the New Vintage Ensemble is a collective of actors from Northeastern Pennsylvania dedicated to producing innovative and interactive theater while helping the art community of the Scranton region thrive.

Their distinctive style and passion for engaging audiences has resulted in award-winning and internationally-recognized productions (“Pride & Prejudice,” 2013), as well as regional premieres of original works.
