Scranton indie pop duo Skip Monday just launched their new YouTube channel with a fresh and unexpected take on the traditional folk song “The House of the Rising Sun,” made popular in 1964 by The Animals.

Filmed by Imattie Films at Mountain Sky in Jermyn, they were joined on bass by Frankie Polumbo, a.k.a. Your Pal Frank, in this slow and sultry performance of the song – quite the opposite of Five Finger Death Punch‘s harder take in 2013. They also recorded an original track, “Heartbeat,” while they were there:

The pair will return to Mountain Sky for the original local music festival NEPA-palooza on May 29-31 – find more details on the Facebook event page.
