KICK take ‘The INXS Experience’ to Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe on Jan. 23
From a press release:
KICK – The INXS Experience is a unique blend of incredibly talented musicians who bring the highest level of musicianship while showing a true passion for the music of INXS, causing the spontaneous eruption of a party in the house – the Mauch Chunk Opera House, that is.
KICK performs at the Opera House (14 W. Broadway, Jim Thorpe) on Saturday, Jan. 23. The show begins at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $20 and available on the Opera House website, by visiting SoundCheck Records (23 Broadway, Jim Thorpe) from 10 a.m.-9 p.m., or by calling them at 570-325-4009. Tickets are also available by calling 570-325-0249. The facility is open from noon-5 p.m. on show days, and tickets are available for most shows at the door at showtime.
Vocalist, guitarist, and singer/songwriter Cory Massi has long held a respect and admiration for the late, great Michael Hutchence; seeing INXS perform in Philadelphia in 1988 and 1989 served more than a young man’s yearning to scour the beauties in attendance or to drink in the sobering decadence.
The band has beautifully managed to capture the spirit of INXS in live performance. The outstanding bottom end from bass player Don Leslie and drummer Johnny Dee, a brilliant combination of piano and synth by Mark Goodnough, the signature guitar tones produced by guitarists Todd King and Jason Taylor, the saxophone by area favorite Evan Jacobi, and the spot-on lead vocals by Massi all lend to a powerful high-energy show that is guaranteed to have the entire venue singing and dancing to every song.
