From a press release:

The Entertainment Institute, a music education platform that gives fans access to musicians and professionals currently working in the industry through customized online and in-person workshops, is hosting a series of workshops at each Vans Warped Tour stop with artists playing or working with the tour, including The Pavilion at Montage Mountain in Scranton on Monday, July 11.

23 different workshops, where professionals will share their firsthand knowledge and experiences, will be available that day, including one with Scranton’s own Chris Motionless, the vocalist of metal band Motionless In White.

Entitled “Connect to Create,” The Entertainment Institute’s website provides a description of the workshop:

Developing and maintaining relationships is an essential life skill that often doesn’t come naturally for many. In this workshop, Chris Motionless will discuss his process of networking through common interests and common goals. He will highlight life experiences and share hardships he has faced in establishing friendships and working relationships throughout his life. Questions will be answered in order to give attendees a chance to get the advice that matters most to them.

“Anyone who knows anything about me personally, or has taken the time to read into a lot of my lyrics, knows that something that is a reoccurring event for me are moments of self-reflection and evaluating my past. I spend a lot of time looking back at events in my life and trying to learn from them rather than focusing on them with a negative outlook. One very major learning point I had taken from these moments is that I regret being too proud to listen to anyone who was willing to help me and share their wisdom with me. I wanted to do everything for myself. While I still admire that type of spirit, in retrospect, I see how much I would have benefited personally had I just opened my mind and realized that people were only trying to help me rather than control or dictate my actions,” Motionless explained.

“With this being said, I made that change for myself and, since, I have evolved as a person far greater than I would have continuing to remain closed off to any advice of any kind. My desire to be a part of this particular project, and what I have prepared for it, are not with the sole intention of teaching. I intend to both teach and learn from a daily group of my peers. You are never too young or old to share or gain any wisdom. I want to share my life experiences and discuss them in relation to my peers’, and in this process, if I can help someone see something in their life differently and inspire them to approach things in a more effective way, I will walk away feeling a tremendous mutual sense of hope and positivity. There’s never enough of those to go around.”

A group photo will be taken at every TEI Workshop. Photos will be uploaded to thinktei.com/warpedtour, sorted by city, and available for download.

TEI Workshops, which are $25-$27 each, are group educational experiences. The workshops are not structured for meet and greets, autograph signings, or individual photo opportunities with gurus. Tickets are available now via Eventbrite, and a separate Vans Warped Tour ticket is needed to attend the workshop.
