The Dishonest Fiddlers

City: Scranton

Genre(s): Folk, bluegrass, Americana, country

Years active: 2012-present

Sounds like: If you enjoy drinking a cool beverage (or maybe some homemade moonshine) on a hot summer day on your back porch with friends or family, this is the kind of music you’re going to want to unwind to as you enjoy the simpler pleasures in life. With a classic bluegrass sound that’s easy to listen and tap your toes to, you won’t even mind that these gentlemen have been dishonest about the fiddles (there are none) because you’re too busy singing along by the second refrain. While best experienced live, even listening to their recordings can turn any environment into good ol’ fashioned coal country.

For fans of: Doc Watson, David Bromberg, Levon Helm, Pete Seeger, Old Crow Medicine Show, Railroad Earth, Still Hand String Band, Cabinet, Coal Town Rounders, and Hickory Project

Number of albums/EPs released: One (debut full-length album “The Whistle Missed the Train”)

Latest album/EP: “The Whistle Missed the Train,” released March 10, 2016

Fun fact: The band recorded their first album completely live in one day at Flux Studios in New York City. They recorded 16 songs and put 11 on the finished album.
