American Advertising Federation holds competition like ‘Chopped’ for nonprofits in Wilkes-Barre Nov. 21
From a press release:
This November, the American Advertising Federation of NEPA is giving back in a big way.
AAF NEPA is sending out a call for nonprofit applications for its inaugural Cropped 2016 fundraising event, to be held at the THINK Center in downtown Wilkes-Barre on Monday, Nov. 21, where a local nonprofit organization will benefit from a little friendly competition.
Much like the Food Network show “Chopped,” four teams of local creatives will be assembled at the THINK Center (7 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre) to compete against each other. A panel of three judges will be also be assembled, with at least one being a representative from the nonprofit. There will be three timed rounds for the competition:
1. Logo – 20 minutes
2. Tagline/copy writing (as applicable to the selected nonprofit) – 20 minutes
3. Creative execution concept – 20 minutes
Teams will be given guidelines for each round that are set by the nonprofit. For example, the logo round must include the colors blue and orange, shape of a ribbon, and the organization’s initials. At the end of each round, the teams will present their concepts. One team will then be eliminated by the panel of judges, or “cropped.”
After the final round, the winning team will work together outside the event to create real-life versions of the logo, tagline/copy, and execution (budget pending for execution), to be presented publicly the next month at the local chapter’s annual AAF Holiday Party. All proceeds from the event attendance will go toward the nonprofit and/or facilitating their new campaign.
Applications can be completed online by visiting aafnepa.org. Applicants can also download the form and submit by e-mail to email@example.com or mail to: AAF Northeast Pennsylvania PO Box 262 Scranton, PA 18501. The deadline for applications is Nov. 8.
