From a press release:

Comedian and Scranton native Ron Babcock is heading back to Northeastern Pennsylvania this holiday season to do two things – visit family and host The Ugly Xmas Sweater Comedy Show at The Bog in downtown Scranton on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 8 p.m.

The show, which is $5 at the door (341 Adams Ave., Scranton), will also include sets from local funnymen Bill Russum, Russell Austin, and Jeffrey Kunkel.

Wear your favorite ugly Christmas sweater to the show be entered into the Ugly Xmas Sweater Pageant. The crowd will judge their favorite, and the winner will receive a “big ol’ prize.”

Babcock, who currently lives in Los Angeles, started doing comedy on a dare and has accomplished quite a bit since then, making appearances on “Last Comic Standing,” “Adam DeVine’s House Party” on Comedy Central, HBO’s “The Life and Times of Tim,” “The Rotten Tomatoes Show,” and “The Daily Habit.” A 2016 NACA Nationals selection, he was one of 26 comics selected for the 2015 Big Sky Comedy Festival, named a New Face of Comedy at Montreal Just for Laughs in 2012, and has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe, SF Sketchfest, RIOTLA, and Bridgetown.

A winner at the Las Vegas Comedy Festival, the LAist called Babcock “a singular stand-up force to be reckoned with.” He co-hosted and directed the “Why Would you Eat That? Challenge” on Tasted, eating the world’s hottest pepper, live octopus, and snake wine (which is exactly what it sounds like). He also co-hosted “Why Would You Eat There?” for Zagat and created digital series for MTV, AOL, Cinefix, Mashable, and others. In 2014, he was sponsored by Mercedes Motoring and toured the country in a 1975 Mercedes-Benz 300D named Harvey – 34 cities, 82 shows, and 12,034 miles.

Babcock will record his debut comedy album in the spring of 2016 with Sure Thing Records. He is also in the film “Saving Ron Babcock,” due out this year.
