Tool, Chance the Rapper, Phoenix, Lorde, and Childish Gambino play Governors Ball Music Festival in NYC June 2-4
As we reported two weeks back, it leaked that platinum-selling alternative metal band Tool will be headlining the seventh annual Governors Ball Music Festival on Randall’s Island in New York City. Now the full lineup has been officially announced, confirming Tool’s first show in the Northeast since 2012 and in NYC since 2006, along with headlining slots by Chance the Rapper and French rock band Phoenix, who are returning from a live hiatus to play select festivals.
The massive multi-genre festival at Randall’s Island Park from June 2-4 will also feature Childish Gambino, Lorde, Wu-Tang Clan, Wiz Khalifa, Logic, Cage the Elephant, Flume, The Head and the Heart, Franz Ferdinand, Local Natives, and many more acts. Childish Gambino hasn’t toured yet to support his latest album, “Awaken, My Love!” (and will be busy this year playing young Lando Calrissian in the new “Star Wars” Han Solo movie), and Lorde hasn’t been on tour since 2014. All in all, over 66 bands have been booked to perform on four stages and in satellite performance areas.
Tickets, which range from $275 for three-day passes to $2,150 for limited platinum access tickets, go on sale this Friday, Jan. 6 at noon at governorsballmusicfestival.com. Single day tickets will also be available.
