From a press release:

The second annual Throop Arts + Food Festival is the first of its kind in Throop, gathering over 70 vendors to showcase their art, goods, and food on Saturday, April 22 from 11 a.m.-6 pm. at the Throop Community Civic Center. It is free and open to the public.

After a booming first year, the organizers are expanding into the Civic Center parking lot (500 Sanderson St., Throop) to showcase more food trucks, vendors, and activities. This event gives residents of Northeastern Pennsylvania the ability to experience the borough at its finest. Many of the vendors are Throop residents who are growing their own businesses or promoting good causes in the area.

There will be activities all day, including workshops provided by the fire and police departments, and the festival is also offering free art classes for children in grades K-6, instructed by a certified art teacher. Sign-ups for the art classes are open now at throopfestival.com.

Additional activities include a 45-minute yoga class by NearMe Yoga, a 20-foot rock wall for ages 15 and up presented by the Pennsylvania Army National Guard Recruiting Station, a basket raffle and awareness speech by Veteran’s Promise, and food trucks, including Southwest Savory Grill, Uncle Buck’s BBQ, and Manning’s Mobile Ice Cream Shoppe.

Local cover band Light Weight will be playing live music throughout the day, will special performances by The Tellerz featuring members of Blind Choice, Mid Valley High School’s Spartan Steel, and the Olyphant Lions Pride Squad. A raffle of about 50 items will take place, giving 100 percent of the proceeds to the Throop Community Civic Center. Last year, the festival raised over $1,300.

T-shirts supporting the event will be on sale at the welcome table in three color options. Pre-orders are being taken now via info@throopfesitval.com.

A free shuttle provided by Gilbride Limousine will run from the Throop Little League Field to the Civic Center for easy parking.

There will also be an after-party at the Sanderson Street Tavern starting immediately after the event.
