From a press release:

After a successful debut at last month’s Mr. Hush Weekend of Fear in Wilkes-Barre, author Brandon Halsey will be signing copies of his new horror novel, “Bliss,” at this weekend’s FANtom Fest in Scranton.

The NEPA native is the author of an oeuvre both abundant and diverse: novels, poems, and essays on innumerable subjects. A description of “Bliss” follows:

Part horror-comedy and part tragic Bildungsroman, “Bliss” combines themes of drug addiction, alcoholism, childhood abuse, guilt, religion, sexual longing, and existentialism into one unique reading experience.

A dangerous new drug known as Bliss is hitting the streets and dirt roads of Zontoe, a small rural community.

Two powerful men believe they could harness the drug’s power for their own nefarious means. The Scientist, intent on world domination, tries to weaponize the drug. Father John McGrady, a Catholic priest, uses the drug to convert infidels and gain followers to his cult-like sect. When the Scientist uses a summer camp run by the Catholic Church as a testing ground for his weaponized drug, a war rages for the townsfolk’s souls and lives.

Taking place Oct. 3-5 at the Scranton Hilton & Conference Center (100 Adams Ave., Scranton), FANtom Fest promises to be a three-day extravaganza of fright, fun, and excitement with guests that include such icons as Jeffrey Combs (“Re-Animator,” “Castle Freak“) William Forsythe (“The Devil’s Rejects,” “Boardwalk Empire“), Linnea Quigley (“Return of the Living Dead,” “Spring Break Massacre“) and Rochelle Davis (“The Crow“). The convention will also host film screenings, exclusive cast reunions, and a charity raffle. More details can be found here.

“The convention last month in Wilkes-Barre was such a blast and I couldn’t wait to do it again,” Halsey said.

“It was a three-day whirlwind of signing books, giving interviews, and meeting some of the biggest genre stars to ever grace the silver screen. If you’re a horror fan, these conventions are the most fun you’ll ever have.”

Halsey will be signing books at FANtom Fest on Friday from 5 p.m.-10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

“Bliss” is also available for purchase on all major online merchants, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the author’s own website.
