Did you miss the Breaking Ground Poetsfirst poetry slam of the season at TwentyFiveEight Studios in Scranton on Saturday, Oct. 25? Don’t worry – TwentyFiveEight has you covered.

They just posted a full two-hour video of the entire night on YouTube, featuring brave performances from Maggie Gilbertson, Hayden Nichols, Mason Crawford, Aidan Cronin, Mitchell Winters, Claire Sheen, Cassi Miller, Jessica Yagloski, Kevin Parker, Mayling Ijomah, Adriana Adams, Abby Yurksza, Skyler Roote, and Bailey Bloyd. First place was won by Gilbertson, a 10th grader from Dallas High school; second went to Sheen, a senior from MMI Preparatory School; and third went to Roote, a senior from Tunkhannock Area High School.

The young poets, under the direction of Tunkhannock Area High School English teacher Katie Wisnosky, poured their hearts out onto the stage and were rewarded with a standing-room-only audience. Their second qualifying slam is slated for Saturday, Jan. 10, followed by a hip-hop competition on Jan. 24 hosted by Parker. For more information, visit the BGP Facebook page.
