The 87th annual Academy Award nominations were announced by actor Chris Pine, Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs, and directors Alfonso Cuarón and J.J. Abrams this morning at a special two-part live news conference at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California.

“Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel” were clear favorites this year, receiving nine nominations each.
