The Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre will be holding auditions for “Jesus Christ Superstar” on Feb. 4-5 from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at the Theatre (537 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre).

The show will be directed by Dana Feigenblatt, with musical direction by Nancy Evans and choreography by Samantha Schugardt. A synopsis follows:

Jesus Christ, the world’s first superstar! This thrilling rock-opera takes a sometimes irreverent, always impassioned, look at Jesus’ last days. As Judas begins to question the motivations and methods of his friend and mentor, emotion and true belief is put to the test. Propelled by a stirring score by the creators of Phantom of the Opera and Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar illuminates the transcendent power of the human spirit with a passion that goes straight to the heart. A true classic of modern musical theatre!

All roles are open to men and women ages 15 and older. Bring a piece of prepared sheet music up to 32 bars. You may sing a song from the show or any prepared piece, but an Andrew Lloyd Webber song is strongly preferred. An accompanist will be provided. They ask that you sing with the piano and not with a recording, as the show will have a live orchestral accompaniment. Bring or wear clothes you can move around in, as you will learn a dance routine.

Anyone that wishes to audition for the roles of Jesus, Judas, and Mary Magdalene will be required to sing two pieces of music, one of your choice and the other as follows: Jesus – “Gethsemane,” Judas – “Heaven on Their Minds,” and Mary Magdalene – “I Don’t Know How to Love Him.” You must sing the two different songs or you will not be considered for those roles.
