For the first time ever at the NEPA Scene Open Mic Night, a poet won the audience vote with a dramatic and hilarious performance at The Woodlands Inn in Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, Dec. 30.

Kyle Rebar blew the audience away with his memorized spoken word pieces, and poets Ali Pica and The Carlton read original work as well. Comedians Elliott Elliott, Ian Webster, Dan Hoppel, Kevin Neary, Matt Serniak, Nick Potoeski, Checkout Joe, Rob Evans, Nick Yanoshak, Zack Hammond, and Eddie Allen kept everyone laughing, and Mikey Rebel and Cee Rock broke up the night with some acoustic guitar music. Comedian Sergio Marzitelli headlined, as he was last week’s winner.

Rebar (pictured above) immediately received $25 cash and the headlining slot for the next Open Mic, along with another $25 in cash and a $25 gift card to Crescenzo’s Brick Oven Eatery for headlining, prizes offered every week to those who receive the most votes.
