It was a musically diverse evening on Friday, Feb. 6 when the Get Cryptic-sponsored event “First Friday with Get Cryptic and Friends” took over both the Bart & Urby’s and The Other Side stages in downtown Wilkes-Barre.
Six bands joined the lineup for what would be Get Cryptic mastermind Eric Davis’ last show in Northeastern Pennsylvania before heading to Los Angeles, though he will continue to help book shows in the area from his new location.
Half Dollar started the night off with their unique blend of pop soul and funk rhythms, followed by Brian TV’s slide guitar-infused indie rock (who even managed to slide a Bob Seger cover in).
Those Clever Foxes were next with their punk-edged indie rock, and Dice Island’s drone noise filled the next slot. Eww Yaboo finished the night off with a ferociously loud fuzz pop set.
It was a great night of local music from around NEPA and a fitting way to send Davis out west.
