From a press release:

The Electric City Music Conference and Steamtown Music Awards have announced a series of updates for the 2015 events.

First and foremost, the dates of the events have been changed. The Steamtown Music Awards will take place on Thursday, Sept. 17, and the Electric City Music Conference performances will kick off on Friday, Sept. 18 and continue through Saturday, Sept. 19. The conference will be held on Saturday afternoon, and performances will continue in the evening.

“We received some pushback on the original dates. It just wasn’t jiving with everyone, and on a personal note, a good friend of the conference announced his wedding would be Sept. 12th. That was sort of the last straw that told us we needed to change dates,” explained co-organizer Joe Caviston.

The organizers hope that moving the festival back a week will also allow more time to reach the college audience.

Co-organizer Ken Norton added, “The first two weeks of college are crazy. We hope that moving the festival back a week will allow the college kids to settle in and adjust before the festival kicks off. A major goal for 2015 from the start was to appeal to the college market.”

The events’ organizers are currently finalizing partnerships, venues, and sponsorships. They have also begun booking bands and are accepting applications from local and national acts now. Caviston promises “a few exciting national acts” and hints at the possibility that “a reunion or two might be in the works.”

Nominations are still being accepted for the Steamtown Music Awards. Fans can visit the website and nominate their favorite bands and music professionals.

Additional announcements are expected over the coming weeks.
