From a press release:

Blues singer/songwriter Matt Andersen will bring his soulful voice to the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts in Wilkes-Barre on Friday, Aug. 14th at 8 p.m. as a part of the Live from the Chandelier Lobby Series, presented by Grotto Pizza.

Tickets, which are $20 in advance or $25 the day of the show, plus fees, are available at the Kirby Center box office, online at kirbycenter.org, and by phone at 570-826-1100.

With more than two million views on YouTube, independent sales over 30,000 albums, a 2013 European Blues Award, and winning Best Solo Performer at the Memphis Blues Challenge, it appears that the entire world is now discovering Matt Andersen. A powerhouse performer with a giant soul-filled voice and commanding stage presence, he has built a formidable following the old fashioned way – touring worldwide and letting the converted audiences and Andersen devotees spread his reputation through word of mouth.

Now with “Weightless,” his debut album for True North Records, Andersen’s music has been captured on record as never before. The New Brunswick native uses the new record to shift his formidable talents as a blues performer to his song-craft. His reputation as a bluesman won him the 2013 Euro Blues Award for Best Solo/Acoustic Act, three Maple Blues Awards in 2012, and nabbed him the 2010 International Blues Challenge in Memphis.

Andersen’s extensive discography boasts seven albums, including one Christmas album, one live album, and two albums with harmonica player Mike Stevens. His 2011 release, “Coal Mining Blues,” was produced by Colin Linden and was recorded at Levon Helm’s studio in Woodstock, New York.

Joining Andersen will be an opening act, the Bobby Kyle Band, fresh from their performances at the Briggs Farm Blues Festival and the Pennsylvania Blues Festival.
