Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge teams up with NEPA Scene every week for Shelter Sunday, a post that features dogs, cats, and occasionally some surprises up for adoption in the hopes of finding them a loving home.

Blue Chip Farm (974 Lockville Rd., Dallas) is a no-kill shelter, a place where no animal is too old or too unwanted to find a warm bed, good food, and most of all, love. Their mission is to provide a sanctuary where older, stray, abandoned, sick, or abused animals can wait to be adopted or simply live out their lives in safety and peace.

Visiting hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon-5 p.m. Other hours are available by appointment. Call 570-333-5265 or visit bcfanimalrefuge.org for more information.

Hund

This week, we have an interview with Hund.

BLUE CHIP: If you were a food, what would you be?

HUND: A hot dog, of course.

BC: If you could trade places with any other dog, who would it be?

H: I would trade places with any adopted dog!

BC: What was your best day?

H: The day I went to Frances Slocum State Park with Blue Chip volunteers.

BC: What would your ideal caretaker be like?

H: I need a good leader who will teach me what is expected of me. I crave someone who will who can offer firm, fair training and gentle, consistent discipline.

BC: What is your theme song?

H: “I’d Do Anything for Love” by Meat Loaf.

BC: What is your favorite place?

H: A lap.

BC: What is your favorite activity?

H: I like to swim and go for walks and have belly rubs.

Hund has been at the shelter since 2014. This boy is such a lover and so misunderstood as a pit bull terrier. Hund’s plight just breaks our hearts. His original owner was convicted of animal cruelty. Now Hund is no longer mistreated, at least not in an obvious way. He does spend most of his day alone.

Day after day, he stays outdoors in his fenced yard with no one for company. From his yard, he barks at all who pass by as though he were asking for someone – anyone – to pay attention to him. Hund just needs someone to love him and spend quality time with him.

Please share this information to find a home for him.

Anna

Meet Anna! She is a 2-year-old calico cat.

Anna is a very sweet girl, a little shy, and would do best in a quiet home as the only pet.

If interested in this beautiful girl, please contact us at 570-333-5265!
