Beer Boys, the Wilkes-Barre bar and restaurant that features the area’s largest draft selection with 72 beers on tap, will be celebrating 16 years in business with 16 highly sought-after beers on tap by Founders Brewing Company on Sunday, Jan. 24, starting at 2 p.m. Every day for the next 16 days, we’ll be revealing each beer that will be available and reviewing them all leading up to the event!

Beer: Project PAM

Brewery: Founders Brewing Company

Style: American Black Ale/Black IPA

ABV: 10.80%

We’re not sure where the name comes from, but the goal of this project must have been to brew a curiously complex beer.

Project PAM pours a deep brown, almost black color with a tan head, giving off a roasted malt and bourbon aroma. Aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels, both flavors are immediately apparent and lend a sweet, oaky booziness to what seems like a chocolaty stout at first until the earthy, slightly citrusy hop bite sinks in.

The bitter, dry finish contains another warm reminder of the alcohol heat, though it all goes down quite smoothly, making it surprisingly drinkable if you’re looking for something a little different to imbibe this winter.

Beers will be available to sample individually in a five-ounce glass, build a paddle of four five-ounce samples, or as individual pints. Prices will vary.
