The seats were packed for a powerful blues double-header on Monday, Jan. 11 when Alexis P. Suter and Ed Randazzo took the stage of the Sordoni High Definition Theater at WVIA Public Media Studios in Pittston to deliver emotional performances for the live broadcast of WVIA-FM’s “Homegrown Music Concerts.”
Hosted by veteran music producer and journalist George Graham, the sold-out show began with an impassioned set by Randazzo, a singer/songwriter from West Pittston, that included several songs from his 2015 album “If You Don’t Bring Me Joy (Be on Your Way).” He was joined by Bret Alexander on acoustic guitar, mandolin, and backing vocals and Tommy Smallcomb on drums.
Suter, a Brooklyn-based gospel/blues powerhouse called a “great talent” by B.B. King himself, then brought the house down with the Ministers of Sound, showing off her range in a variety of songs. Her latest record, released in 2014, is “Love the Way You Roll.”
