NEPA GAMING CHALLENGE: ‘Mario Kart 8′ and the Splashin’ with Compassion polar plunge at Montage
Jamie Nelson, proprietor of 1Up Games in Forty Fort and lifelong video game collector, and Jim Loomis, founder of Go Left! Records in Edwardsville, are turning the “Let’s Play” video concept on its head! Part vlog, part “Jackass,” and part “Impractical Jokers,” these two friends with a passion for gaming and craft beer are putting their skills, egos, and humility on the line each week as they challenge each other – and possibly a few guests – to contests of ability and hand-eye coordination in various video games across different consoles, enjoying some libations along the way. Will their skills increase or decrease in their lust for power? Who knows? Who cares? They certainly don’t – it was their idea!
The catch is that the loser of each battle must be punished! The punishment will be agreed upon by the combatants themselves and vary each week – and they will not go easy on each other. The follow-up video will be posted on Thursdays so further enjoyment can be garnered from their humiliation.
To the victor go the spoils (while the defeated loses their dignity) in the NEPA Gaming Challenge!
In Episode 8, Jamie and Jim are joined by special guest competitors Abbott and Gene (as well as a few spectators) for a heated four-way “Mario Kart 8” session on the Wii U where each racer must completely finish a bottle of beer prior to finishing each race – the catch is that they must be pulled over to the side of the track and at a complete stop before and while drinking!
All three of the losers must complete the Splashin’ with Compassion polar plunge for the Friends of Shannon McDonough at Montage Mountain in Scranton to help raise money for young people in Northeastern Pennsylvania who are battling cancer.
This video is a little longer than usual, but you’re not going to want to miss a minute of it – especially what happens in the second lap of the third race. Unbelievable!
Jim, Gene Milbrodt (NES Trail), and Jordan Abbott (Antisocial Media) dive right into the Splashin’ with Compassion polar plunge after their loss in “Mario Kart 8” in the hysterically shocking follow-up to Tuesday’s video.
Despite having won the “Mario Kart” race, Jamie decides to join the guys in this chilling challenge anyway to help a great cause and partake in the shenanigans. This might have gotten a little out of hand!
