East Los Angeles rockers Los Lobos performed at the F.M. Kirby Center in Wilkes-Barre on Friday, March 4, though it wasn’t a typical concert – they were joined on stage by the Ballet Folklorico Mexicano de Carlos Moreno to craft a beautiful multimedia experience that celebrated the colorful culture of Mexico.
The mission of the Ballet Folklorico Mexicano is “to empower the community and to educate the general public by providing a greater understanding and appreciation for Mexican culture and folklore through music, dance, and traditional art forms,” and they accomplished this with an engrossing show that included a set of traditional Mexican music by Los Lobos and another set of their Grammy Award-winning hits, including the band’s popular take on “La Bamba.”
