YOU SHOULD BE LISTENING TO: Scranton post-punk band Clever Clever

City: Scranton
Genre(s): Punk rock, post-punk, indie rock, post-hardcore
Years active: 2014-present
Sounds like: While maintaining the voice and edge of punk rock, Clever Clever tread into indie rock territory with a grungy pop undertone while steadfastly refusing to conform to any of those genres, leaving some listeners inspired to grab the mic and sing along until they’re hoarse while others jam out in their room to the harsh sounds of love and loathing. Either way, this music will absorb the pain of whichever “you” you’re singing about.
For fans of: Hot Water Music, Against Me!, The Gaslight Anthem, Iggy and the Stooges, Circle Jerks, Nirvana, New York Dolls, OFF!, Heart Out, and Those Clever Foxes
Number of albums/EPs released: Two (one EP, “The EP,” in 2014 and one full-length album, “Love,” in 2015)
Latest album/EP: “Love,” released Oct. 17, 2015
Fun fact: According to the band, the drummer’s snare drum is actually a floor tom that has been blessed to sound like a snare by a voodoo priest.
