From a press release:

The SMG-managed Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre Township was ranked No. 138 in the Top 200 arenas in the world in event ticket sales according to Pollstar Magazine’s “2016 Third Quarter Year to Date Worldwide Ticket Sales: Top 200 Arena Venues” report in a recent issue of Pollstar, one of the leading industry publications.

The Mohegan Sun Arena ranked fourth in the state of Pennsylvania for ticket sales during the first nine months of 2016, according to the report. Other venue rankings within the state include the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia (16th), the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh (40th), and the Bryce Jordan Center in State College (110th).

“If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it 138 times – our Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Northeastern Pennsylvania is a worldwide leader in the sports and entertainment business,” said Brian Sipe, SMG general manager of Mohegan Sun Arena.

“If you look at the list of the top markets in the entire world and to know that we, at just under 10,000 seats, are ranked right beside them, I think that is a testament to the success of our arena. Not only that, but when you look at Pennsylvania, we only fall behind the two largest markets in the state and the 16,000 seat Bryce Jordan Center! Thank you to the ticket buyer, the promoters, the agents, our employees, our Authority, and the citizens who support our venue!”

Rankings for this report were determined by total paid attendance numbers as reported to Pollstar (concerts and family shows only) held between Jan. 1, 2016 and Sept. 30, 2016. During this time, Mohegan Sun Arena hosted 32 ticketed event performances, including the sold-out Elton John and Blake Shelton concerts; comedians Jeff Dunham, Amy Schumer, Gabriel Iglesias, and Louis C.K.; music legends Barry Manilow and Dolly Parton; Shinedown; WWE Live; Disney on Ice; the Harlem Globetrotters; Sesame Street Live; and the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Due to submission deadlines, September event attendance numbers were not included in this ranking.

Mohegan Sun Arena also hosted several events that are not included in the Pollstar report, including 26 Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hockey games, Monster Jam, the NEPA Home and Garden Show, the Hot Tub and Swim Spa Blowout Sale, the Jehovah’s Witnesses Convention, Employment Expo 2016, NEPA Beer Festival, Marywood University Commencement, King’s College Commencement, Luzerne County Community College Commencement, University of Scranton Commencement, Crestwood High School graduation, PIAA District 2 High School Basketball Championships, and two Donald Trump presidential campaign rallies, plus several other private trade shows.

Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza is owned by the Luzerne County Convention Center Authority, a government body appointed by Luzerne County. The arena is managed by SMG, the world leader in entertainment and sports facilities management, with catering and concessions services provided by SAVOR… at Mohegan Sun Arena.
