While practically everyone in Northeastern Pennsylvania is excited to see the old Globe Store in downtown Scranton lit up and open to shoppers again this weekend, it’s much more important to support the stores that are actually open and active year-round that will be participating in ScrantonMade’s fourth annual Holiday Market in The Globe Dec. 2-4.

With malls and big department store chains putting places like The Globe Store out of business, things have come full circle this year as that same building, which is now the Lackawanna County Government Center, will be home to 140 vendors selling their locally made wares on Friday from 5 p.m.-9 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Scranton filmmaker, director, and producer Lindsay Barrasse and David Corigliano of Voyager Video created a series of Holiday Market Spotlight videos that feature interviews with some of the many small business owners participating this year, which she has allowed NEPA Scene to repost. Be sure to stop by their tables this weekend – then visit them throughout the rest of the year because small businesses like these are what truly keeps our local economy going.
