From a press release:

Elite Spine and Sports and Elite Custom Fitness, the most cutting edge fitness and physical therapy center in Wilkes-Barre, will host the grand opening of its new location on Saturday, Jan. 14.

The event will take place at 182 Butler Street in Wilkes-Barre between 12:30 p.m.-4 p.m. Guests will be treated to free refreshments and light fare. The new building features a 7,500 square foot space for the best in physical therapy and fitness, including locker rooms and showers.

“We can’t believe that we’ve grown so much in four years that we are moving into this great space! It’s been our dream to help people in our community feel better and move better, so this is a wonderful opportunity to help even more people out there who may be struggling,” said Jack Digwood, physical therapist and co-owner of Elite with his wife, Kristen Digwood.

Jack and Kristen Digwood decided to open their own physical therapy practice over four years ago, when the clinic they managed in Forty Fort was sold to a national healthcare company. They knew that they would be unable to continue caring for their patients as they had done for the previous seven years under the new management. To avoid conforming to a system they couldn’t be passionate about, they chose to do it the way they knew helped people the most.

They decided that Jack would be the sole clinic employee to see if it could work, while Kristen worked a full-time job and handled the organizational efforts as well. After 14 months, they hired their first employee and continued to grow over the next three years to their current team size of 15.

Kristen worked the equivalent of two full-time jobs for the first three years to help keep the company growing and their finances in good shape until finally quitting her other job to concentrate fully on Elite at the beginning of 2016. They are most proud of the staff they have assembled at Elite by concentrating on the character of the people they bring in and keep on the team.

The Elite Custom Fitness program was a natural extension of the therapy services they provide. Many of the members are former physical therapy patients who have overcome their injury and wanted to achieve even more. There are over 100 Elite Custom Fitness members working out in their current 1,800 square foot office space. The entire staff and membership are eagerly looking forward to the expansion into the new space, loaded with new fitness equipment and complete with showers and locker rooms.

Elite is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
