Scranton bands play Alkaline Trio tunes at Valentine’s Day Masquerade Ball in Wilkes-Barre on Feb. 11
Chicago vocalist/guitarist Matt Skiba played with Blink-182 at The Pavilion at Montage Mountain in Scranton last summer, but it will be a while before he tours again with his original band, Alkaline Trio, and probably even longer before he performs anywhere in Northeastern Pennsylvania (though a new album is in the works).
In the meantime, two Scranton bands will share their own distinct takes on Alkaline Trio’s music during a special Valentine’s Day Masquerade Ball at Bart and Urby’s (119 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre) on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 8 p.m.
Indie rockers Esta Coda (who have covered Alkaline Trio before) and progressive alternative rock band Family Animals will play selections from Alkaline Trio’s extensive catalog of eight studio albums, and with punk trio being known for their dark visual aesthetic as much as their macabre lyrics, the masquerade theme fits well with the music.
A $100 prize will be awarded to the best dressed attendee, and there will be a photo booth to capture all the costumes.
