Learn all about monarch butterflies for free at Nay Aug Ave. Play Area in Scranton on July 12

According to the National Wildlife Federation, monarch butterfly populations have declined by 90 percent in the last 20 years. This statistic concerns wildlife and conservation experts, as butterflies play a vital role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem.
The Lackawanna Heritage Valley National and State Heritage Area and the Lackawanna County Conservation District are partnering to offer a free program devoted to this topic. Learn about the life cycle of monarch butterflies – and how to help save them – at “All About Monarchs,” presented by Cheryl Nolan, a watershed specialist for the Lackawanna County Conservation District.
The program will be held on Wednesday, July 12 at 10 a.m. inside the Fidelity Fishing Shack at the Nay Aug Avenue Natural Play Area, with a rain date of July 13.
“All About Monarchs” is suitable for all ages, and families are encouraged to spend the day and enjoy the play area after the program.
Not to be confused with Nay Aug Park in East Scranton, the Nay Aug Avenue Natural Play Area (1738 Nay Aug Ave., Scranton) is located in the Green Ridge section of Scranton, between Green Ridge and East Market Streets.
