Brooklyn soul band The Gold Magnolias play last Harmony Presents show in Hawley on July 21
From a press release:
Brooklyn Southern soul band The Gold Magnolias will return to Hawley to give the final performance of Harmony Presents in the Hawley Silk Mill on Friday, July 21 at 8 p.m.
“The Gold Magnolias are powerhouses, and we wanted to go out with a bang for our last concert inside the Hawley Silk Mill,” says Jill Carletti, managing director of Harmony Presents.
“The band is comprised of a few southern boys living in New York City with a sound that evokes such artists as recent phenoms the Alabama Shakes and soul stalwarts like Fats Domino and James Brown. The two times we’ve had them perform for us, audience members I didn’t know were hugging and high-fiving me in thanks after the show.
“We’re so excited to have them for our final performance in the Hawley Silk Mill. Don’t be surprised if you end up dancing, stomping, clapping and singing. It’s just what happens when people watch The Gold Magnolias live.”
Since its inception, Harmony Presents has been about bringing quality live music to Hawley, the Pocono Mountain region, and its neighboring areas. Since Feb. 10, 2013, they have showcased hundreds of quality musical discoveries in genres like folk, bluegrass, funk, jazz, klezmer, old-time, pop rock, blues, Celtic, world, bluegrass, as well as genres not yet defined.
The vast majority of these performances have taken place at the Hawley Silk Mill (8 Silk Mill Drive, Hawley), but as of 2017, they are branching out and producing shows outside of Hawley more regularly. A future location for concerts and shows is to be announced.
Harmony Presents concerts currently take place in the historic Boiler Room of the Hawley Silk Mill, the world’s largest laid bluestone building, and shows start at 8 p.m. and end around 10 p.m. Audiences are encouraged to arrive early for preferred seating.
Tickets, which are $22 in advance or $25 the day of the show, can be purchased online at harmonypresents.com or in person at AMSkier Insurance (209 Main Ave., Hawley) during regular business hours and on Saturdays between 9 a.m.-1 p.m. If tickets sell out inside the Boiler Room, Porch Party tickets will be made available for $10 on the day of the show until capacity is reached, weather permitting.
Cocoon Coffee House caters snacks, coffee, wine, and beer on site prior to the shows and during intermission.
