The F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts in Wilkes-Barre has announced that its fifth annual Halloween film festival on Friday, Oct. 13 will be called “Frightday III: Friday the 13th.”

This year, the Halloween film series opens with Disney’s “Descendants 2,” a 2017 animated film, and a costume parade for all ages. When the pressure to be royal becomes too much for Mal, she returns to the Isle of the Lost where her archenemy Uma, Ursula’s daughter, has taken her spot as self-proclaimed queen. The costume parade will be in the theater at 5:20 p.m., and the movie will start at 5:30 p.m.

Next, the Kirby Center (71 Public Square, Wilkes-Barre) will be showing “The Shining.” This R-rated 1980 Stanley Kubrick classic is sure give audiences a fright. With wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) and psychic son Danny (Danny Lloyd) in tow, frustrated writer Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where an evil and spiritual presence influences Jack into violence, while his son sees horrific forebodings from the past and of the future.

For the fifth year in a row, the series features a midnight showing of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Rated R, the 1975 film stars Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Richard O’Brien, and Barry Bostwick. Come dance the “Time Warp” at the Kirby Center; a list of approved props is below.

“Descendants 2” (NR, 2017): 111 minutes, 5:30 p.m. – $3
“The Shining” (R, 1980): 146 minutes, 8 p.m. – $5
“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” (R, 1975):, 101 minutes, midnight – $5

For “The Rocky Horror Picture Show:”

NO backpacks or large bags.
NO buckets, super soakers, or large spray bottles.
NO confetti.
NO candles or open flames.
NO outside food and beverages allowed inside.
NO throwing objects at the movie screen.
The Kirby Center reserves the right to inspect purses and/or oversized jackets.
Anyone appearing intoxicated will not be admitted.
