From a press release:

Meat and Potato Entertainment has exclusively announced through NEPA Scene that they will organize a series of tribute shows that will span throughout 2018. The events will take place at Thirst T’s Bar & Grill in Olyphant and cost just $5.

Each concert will feature one of the East Coast’s best tribute acts and also provide the opportunity for a local original act to open the evening. Electric City Music Conference organizers Joe Caviston and Kenneth Norton are behind Meat and Potato, which has brought several national acts to Northeastern Pennsylvania, including an upcoming show with The Veer Union on Jan. 2.

“We’re always looking for ways to provide local artists with new opportunities and expose them to new audiences,” Norton explained.

“The thought process is that if local music fans can see tributes to their favorite artists and possibly discover their new favorite band, everyone wins. We said to ourselves, ‘If someone loves Nirvana, they’d probably love Black Hole Heart too,’ so why not provide local artists with the unique opportunity to perform their own music to a room full of people who are predisposed to enjoy it?” Caviston noted.

2018 tribute series schedule:

Jan. 20: Penny Royalty (tribute to Nirvana) with Black Hole Heart

Feb. 17: Enema (tribute to Blink-182) with Blind Choice

March 10: Hold Fast (Celtic rock tribute) – Post-Parade Day Party with TBA

April 14: Penntera (tribute to Pantera) with Skin-n-Bones

Dec. 8: A Very Meat and Potato Christmas – Local musicians play all of your favorite holiday tunes

The monthly series at Thirst T’s (120 Lincoln St., Olyphant) will run through 2018 except for September because of the fifth annual Electric City Music Conference. A special holiday show dubbed “A Very Meat and Potato Christmas,” will cap off the series with local favorites playing holiday tunes. A portion of the proceeds will benefit a local family in need.
