Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge teams up with NEPA Scene every week for Shelter Sunday, a post that features dogs, cats, and occasionally some surprises up for adoption in the hopes of finding them a loving home.

Blue Chip Farm (974 Lockville Rd., Dallas) is a no-kill shelter, a place where no animal is too old or too unwanted to find a warm bed, good food and, most of all, love. Their mission is to provide a sanctuary where older, stray, abandoned, sick, or abused animals can wait to be adopted or simply live out their lives in safety and peace.

Visiting hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon-5 p.m. Other hours are available by appointment. Call 570-333-5265 or visit bcfanimalrefuge.org for more information.

Rusty

Rusty is a sweet but scared 1-year-old Chihuahua mix.

He was a stray for a few months and was luckily caught by a wonderful woman. Because he was a stray for so long, we do not know his history.

Rusty has been in a foster home for the past few weeks where they have been able to learn all about him. He is a timid boy who takes time to trust new people. He does much better with women, as he trusts them faster and seems to be more comfortable with them. He is nervous around strangers and would do best in a low traffic home, at least for the first few months.

Rusty is looking for a single owner, preferably a woman, who will take the time to bond with him and show him how to be a real pup. He is currently with another dog but does not seem to be bonding with her due to his nerves. His foster parents believe he would do well with another dog, as he does try to play with their dog, but their dog is not being very receptive to him. He is house-trained for the most part, only having accidents when men or strangers walk near him.

A special home is needed for this special dog. He is still in the foster home, so call Blue Chip at 570-333-5265 to arrange a meet and greet.

Sheba

Sheba is a 1-year-old British shorthair tabby.

This beautiful girl is the queen of poses. She likes to check you out and give a reaction of curious disinterest. She is social but likes to check you out first… so she can ignore you, at least until she warms up to you. She enjoys being pet, lying in her pink bed, and playing with her favorite feathered toy.

Sheba is playful, loving, and would do best in a quiet home as the only pet.

If you’re interested in adopting Sheba, please note that she is living in a foster home, not on the Blue Chip campus, so call 570-333-5265 ahead of time to arrange a meet and greet.
