SHELTER SUNDAY: Meet Athena (mountain cur mix) and Marty (gray shorthair cat)
Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge teams up with NEPA Scene every week for Shelter Sunday, a post that features dogs, cats, and occasionally some surprises up for adoption in the hopes of finding them a loving home.
Blue Chip Farm (974 Lockville Rd., Dallas) is a no-kill shelter, a place where no animal is too old or too unwanted to find a warm bed, good food and, most of all, love. Their mission is to provide a sanctuary where older, stray, abandoned, sick, or abused animals can wait to be adopted or simply live out their lives in safety and peace.
Visiting hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon-5 p.m. Other hours are available by appointment. Call 570-333-5265 or visit bcfanimalrefuge.org for more information.
Athena, a stunning mountain cur mix, is only around 3 years old.
This sweet blue-and-brown-eyed girl is looking for the perfect family now that all of her puppies have found their forever homes. Once a scared pregnant mom surrendered to a kill shelter, Athena was rescued and transported to Blue Chip just in time to give birth to her beautiful pups.
She would do best in a home with no other pets or with another young dog. She will instinctively go after older dogs, as she was once a stray who had to protect herself and her puppies from the world. She loves every person she meets, both children and adults.
She likes going for walks, but she is more of a couch potato. Come and meet Miss Athena and make her your couch potato today!
Marty is a 4-year-old svelte charcoal shorthair who is neutered and up-to-date on his shots and testing.
Marty is a greeter by nature and loves to be the first “person” newcomers see as they walk in the door, mainly because he is curious and wants to see if there is food involved with their visit.
He is social, lovable, easygoing, and has no real dislikes – except going to the vet. Also, he likes to watch humans mopping the floor and has an affinity for lounging by windows.
If you’re interested in adopting this handsome little greeter, fill out an adoption form on bcfanimalrefuge.org and call 570-333-5265 to arrange a meet and greet.
