From a press release:

Promoting environmental protection, public health, and sustainability in Northeastern Pennsylvania, the inaugural NEPA Green Fair & 5K for Clean Air will be held at the Blakely Borough Recreational Complex in Peckville on Saturday, May 5.

The Green Fair is a free, family-friendly event that will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. with live music, local food, raffle baskets, exhibitors, eco-friendly vendors, workshops, art, and more.

“The goal is to provide environmental education for all ages, support local green businesses, and learn about the environmental movement and ways to be involved,” event organizer Allison Petryk said.

Proceeds will support Citizens for a Healthy Jessup and Friends of Lackawanna, two local groups working to protect the region’s health, environment, and well-being.

The 5K Run/Walk for Clean Air begins at 9 a.m. and will take participants along the scenic Lackawanna River Heritage Trail. To register either as an individual or part of a team, register online at racemenu.com/nepa or the day of at the Blakely Recreational Complex (100 Keystone Ave., Peckville) at 8 a.m.

The Green Fair will feature over 40 exhibitors and vendors showcasing hybrid vehicles, environmentally-friendly products, solar energy, native plants, and locally sourced food. Educational programs and informative displays from local and statewide groups will also highlight practical ways to become more involved.

There’s plenty for kids to do too. Activities include a live birds of prey presentation, an up-close look at stream critters, rock painting, art projects, games, and other hands-on activities.

Additionally, free yoga and workshops will be offered throughout the day, including discussions on waste reduction, composting, solar energy, and gardening. Local musicians will also play all day; see the full performance schedule below:
