Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge teams up with NEPA Scene every week for Shelter Sunday, a post that features dogs, cats, and occasionally some surprises up for adoption in the hopes of finding them a loving home.

Blue Chip Farm (974 Lockville Rd., Dallas) is a no-kill shelter, a place where no animal is too old or too unwanted to find a warm bed, good food and, most of all, love. Their mission is to provide a sanctuary where older, stray, abandoned, sick, or abused animals can wait to be adopted or simply live out their lives in safety and peace.

Visiting hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon-5 p.m. Other hours are available by appointment. Call 570-333-5265 or visit bcfanimalrefuge.org for more information.

Colt

Calling all Indianapolis Colts fans – we have the pup for you!

Colt is a handsome hound mix around 2-3 years old. Weighing 40 pounds, he is a small dude with lots of energy.

Colt has been tossed around quite a bit during his short life, with at least four known homes thus far. He was originally surrendered to a kill shelter as a younger pup and was saved by a different shelter. There, he was adopted out three times, but none of them ever worked out. After the third time, the shelter didn’t think he could find the perfect family, so he was set to be euthanized. He was brought to Blue Chip just in time!

He needs to be the only pet in a home with older or no children, as the fast movements of little kids spook him; he has previously become very overwhelmed around multiple little children. Colt is wonderful with adults and older children that understand him. He loves going for walks and being around the people he loves. He is a very friendly pup and loves life!

He is a huge love bug but is sad in his kennel. Colt sits very patiently waiting for his time to come out and play. He knows basic commands and is a very good listener. While walking past other dogs, his volunteers tell him to sit and he listens and stays calm the whole time.

We know there is someone out there who is absolutely perfect for him. Is it you?

Sheba

Sheba is a 1-year-old British shorthair tabby.

This beautiful girl is the queen of poses. She likes to check you out and give a reaction of curious disinterest. She is social but likes to check you out first… so she can ignore you, at least until she warms up to you. She enjoys being pet, lying in her bed, and playing with her favorite feathered toy.

Sheba is playful, loving, and would do best in a quiet home as the only pet.

If you’re interested in adopting Sheba, please note that she is living in a foster home, not on the Blue Chip campus, so call 570-333-5265 ahead of time to arrange a meet and greet.
