From a press release:

The Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce, the Diamond City Partnership, the Downtown Wilkes-Barre Business Association, and Art Block Wilkes-Barre are joining forces to present the third annual Small Business Christmas in July on Friday, July 20.

During the event, over 40 small businesses throughout Greater Wilkes-Barre will offer a special deal or discount of the day at their store location, giving local shoppers incentive to shop small.

Discounts offered by all participating businesses will be published in local media and information will be made available from 3 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at a table in the parking lot of the Sordoni Art Gallery at Wilkes University. Additionally, there will be a canned goods drive to benefit the United Way of Wyoming Valley, with each participating business serving as a collection site.

In conjunction, Art Block Wilkes-Barre, featuring nearly 30 local artists and art vendors, will be occurring in downtown Wilkes-Barre on the second block of South Main Street from 5 p.m.-8 p.m.

Additionally, the Sordoni Art Gallery will present the Tape Art Crew, a team of artists from Rhode Island, from Tuesday, July 17 through Friday, July 20. The Tape Art Crew will create a temporary mural on the facade of the Sordoni Art Gallery building (141 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre) entirely out of tape during their micro-residency on campus.

In addition to exhibition hours at the gallery, a mural celebration will take place from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. on July 20 during Art Block Wilkes-Barre. The public is invited to join the artists in a celebratory teardown of the mural at 7:30 p.m. The Luzerne Foundation and Visit Luzerne County partnered with the art gallery and the Art Block to bring the mural project to Wilkes-Barre. Learn more about the Tape Art Crew and the event here.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information on Small Business Christmas in July or to register your small business, visit wilkes-barre.org or call Ben Eaton at 570-408-1728.
