Following Camp Bisco and the Peach Music Festival in July, Montage Mountain Waterpark was gearing up to host the brand new, smaller-scale Montage Mountain Moosic Festival on Saturday, Aug. 18 but quietly canceled the all-ages event before its debut.

Set to feature live music by three renowned tribute acts – Start Making Sense (Talking Heads), Badfish (Sublime), and Splintered Sunlight (Grateful Dead) – festival-goers would have received all-day access to the water park attractions while the bands performed.

After changing the Facebook event page title to “Moosic Festival – Cancelled,” Montage posted the following message in the event page on July 24 in response to those asking for refunds:

Hey All! We apologize for the slow communication in regards to this show as cancellation was just confirmed this afternoon. We did notify Ticketfly of the change and refunds will be made in full soon, if not already. Our goal is to bring new, fun, diverse events to the mountain and music shows will play a large role in that effort. With Moosic Festival, we had great bands, a great team, with just too short a timeline to execute at the level you deserve and we expect. We apologize on all fronts and will deliver, we promise. Until then, if there are any questions, feel free to message us on our main page and we would be glad to help!

For those who are disappointed by this news, Montage Mountain Waterpark (1000 Montage Mountain Rd., Scranton) has many other outdoor events coming up before swimming season is over, including Wet ‘n Wild Wednesdays with EJ the DJ on Aug. 15 and Aug. 22, $5 Day on Aug. 16, Find It Friday on Aug. 17, Kids’ Swim Night on Aug. 23, Adult Swim Night on Aug. 25, car show Slammed Rides and Water Slides on Sept. 1, Pride on the Mountain hosted by NEPA Rainbow Alliance on Sept. 8, and the dog-friendly Bark in the Waterpark on Sept. 9.
