As the official craft beer of the eighth annual Peach Music Festival, Tröegs Independent Brewing is coming from Hershey to Scranton this weekend to pour brews from Thursday, July 25 through Sunday, July 28, including one brand new beer made specifically for the festival.

In addition to Perpetual IPA, Field Study IPA, Sunshine Pils, and Raspberry Tart Ale, Tröegs is bringing Fuzzy Nudge to The Pavilion at Montage Mountain, a “hazy Double IPA brewed with peaches and apricots.” Starting from a limited batch that was part of the brewery’s experimental Scratch Series, Fuzzy Nudge is seeing a much wider release today to celebrate the festival.

“Peach Fest was interested in having an independent Pennsylvania brewery as the official craft beer of the festival, and we were approached by the festival’s organizers. We even had to be approved by some of the members of The Allman Brothers Band, who originally created the festival,” Tröegs Marketing Communications Coordinator Jeff Herb told NEPA Scene via e-mail.

With a 9 percent ABV, Tröegs says its latest addition to its lineup started simply as a funny beer name and became a fruity brew that tastes like juicy peaches, orange rind, and brown sugar. According to the can:

An oat-dominated malt bill gives it a super-soft mouthfeel, and it’s loaded with 25 pounds per barrel of fuzzy peaches and apricots. A hop combo of Lotus, El Dorado, and Azacca complements the stone fruit with notes of orange rind and pear, and a new-to-us yeast pulls in flavors reminiscent of gummy peach rings. Finally, brown sugar balances the brightness of the fruit and nudges fermentation of this lovable double IPA to full fuzziness. Voila, Fuzzy Nudge!

In addition to Peach Fest, Tröegs will have a limited number of Fuzzy Nudge 16 oz. cans available at the brewery and select bars and bottleshops in the Scranton area, the Poconos, Central Pennsylvania, and greater Philadelphia this week. Ace Beverage Company is distributing the beer in Northeastern Pennsylvania, and a representative told NEPA Scene today that Fuzzy Nudge will be available at the Backyard Ale House, Wegmans, Montage Beerworks, Exit 190 Beer Deli, Joe’s Six Packs to Go, Mineo’s Brewers Outlet, and other locations in Scranton/Dunmore as well as several more stores in Wilkes-Barre starting tomorrow. Quantities are extremely limited, though, so the only guaranteed way to drink this beer is to attend the Peach this weekend.

The Peach Music Festival kicks off today at The Pavilion at Montage Mountain (1000 Montage Mountain Rd., Scranton) with performances by Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, The String Cheese Incident, Billy Strings, and Aqueous. Headliners the rest of the weekend include Phil Lesh and Friends, the Trey Anastasio Band (featuring Phish guitarist/vocalist Trey Anastasio), The String Cheese Incident, and Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, along with a collaborative Peach Guitar Pull added this year.
