His 34th Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series win, Denny Hamlin claimed victory in the Gander RV 400 at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond on Sunday, July 28.

Hamlin has had a great deal of success at Pocono Raceway. He notched his fifth career win on the Tricky Triangle and his third win of the season, including the Daytona 500. He sits fourth in the overall standings as the playoffs approach.

Joe Gibbs Racing took the top three spots at Pocono with Erik Jones and Martin Truex Jr. taking second and third, respectively, with their Toyotas. Kyle Busch led 56 laps to take Stage 1 while seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson won Stage 2, trying not to miss the playoffs for the first time in his career.

As two late caution flags sent the race into overtime laps, much of the field skipped pitting, hoping to hold out for the win. Hamlin had the fuel, tires, and nerve in his Fed Ex No. 11 to bring home the checkered flag.
