All it took was one Instagram post to drive Scranton into a frenzy.

After hanging out with co-star John Krasinski in New York City on Wednesday, “The Office” actor Brian Baumgartner jumped on his Instagram shared an old photo of them with Jenna Fischer at the Backyard Ale House in Scranton taken during “The Office” Wrap Party in 2013, when most of the cast visited the real-life setting of the hit NBC sitcom.

“Such fond memories. I’m doing it – I’ve decided I am detouring from NYC to Scranton and will see you tomorrow night!” he wrote.

The news spread fast online and excited crowds gathered at Cooper’s Seafood House and Backyard Ale House to greet him on Thursday, Jan. 23. He also stopped in The Bog, the University of Scranton, and a few other places in the area not only to meet fans and catch up with old friends, but to bring a recording crew and speak to locals about the show’s impact on Scranton nearly seven years after the last episode aired on NBC.

“I’m from Georgia, and I live in California, but Scranton still somehow feels like home,” Baumgartner told WNEP-TV last night.

At Backyard, he stepped behind the bar to pour drinks and party with fans on the heated patio, chatting and snapping photos long into the night. Thankfully, no chili was spilled.

“Hey! Here’s my only question for all of you tonight – what the fuck do you want to drink?” he shouted as fans cheered and held up their drinks.

Another “Office” star, Leslie David Baker (who played Stanley Hudson), is scheduled to make a more formal appearance in Scranton this summer at The Office Super Fan Festival, a new event coming to The Marketplace at Steamtown and Levels Bar & Grill on Friday, July 24 through Sunday, July 26. The convention will feature meet and greets with Baker and several minor cast members from various episodes of the show’s nine seasons as well as screen-used props and wardrobe, trivia and cosplay contests, a disco party, Dundie Awards, vendors, artists, and more.
