From a press release:

Today, Wallenpaupack Brewing Company, the award-winning craft brewery and brewpub in Hawley, announced it has won two bronze medals in the 2020 Best of Craft Beer Awards, an international beer competition that took place Feb. 7-9 in Bend, Oregon.

During the course of the three-day judging, 262 medals were awarded across 95 categories. Judges were comprised of Beer Judge Certification Program members and a variety of leading industry experts who sampled the beers and awarded prizes. Wallenpaupack Brewing achieved bronze medals for two of its most popular beers, which are offered daily at the brewery (on draft and in cans, growlers, and crowlers) and distributed at bars, restaurants, and off-premise locations throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania. These include:

  • Paupack Cream Ale – A flagship beer named after the lake region, Cream Ale is an American classic that’s straw-colored, crisp, and refreshing (4.5 percent ABV).
  • Hawley Hefeweizen – A German-style wheat beer that gets its character from lots of wheat, a few hops, and a Bavarian yeast strain. It’s light and delicious with notes of banana and clove (5.1 percent ABV).

In total, 170 breweries representing 33 states were awarded medals during this year’s competition. Only two breweries in the state of Pennsylvania were awarded prizes, with Wallenpaupack Brewing Company receiving two out of the three awards. The other was Rusty Rail Brewing Company in Mifflinburg.

“This is the first time our beers have been recognized by leading experts outside of the state of Pennsylvania, and we’re absolutely thrilled that these judges saw in our beers what we – and our customers – already know and love,” said Becky Ryman, owner of Wallenpaupack Brewing Company.

“It’s an honor to represent the best of Pennsylvania craft brewing and stand with the many other craft breweries around the country producing exceptional beers.”
