Grammy-nominated comedian Jim Gaffigan put the keys in the ignition of his Drive-Thru Comic Tour on July 12 in New Jersey and, just a few days later, he rolled into the parking lot of Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre Township.

Hundreds of people pulled up to socially distanced parking spots to hear the Emmy-winning comic debut all-new material as his often-joked-about pale visage appeared on huge LED screens while the sun set behind the arena on Saturday, July 18.

Yesterday, Gaffigan talked about this unique experience in an interview on the “Today” show that showed aerial footage of the Wilkes-Barre show.

“If you’ve ever wanted to perform for a used car lot, it’s very similar,” he cracked.

“It’s great to get out there and people are socially distanced and safe, but it is a little strange. You feel like you’re recreating a scene from the movie ‘Cars,’ but people are voluntarily recreating the experience of being stuck in traffic, so it’s great.”

For those who missed out, his new streaming stand-up special, “The Pale Tourist,” premiered on Amazon Prime today along with the release of the album version. Last year, his seventh special, “Quality Time,” was released as Amazon’s first original comedy special. The description for “The Pale Tourist” reads:

Jim Gaffigan boldly goes where no stand-up comedian has gone before: everywhere! During the Pale Tourist global tour, Jim traveled the world meeting locals and learning about their culture. He then transformed those experiences into stand-up sets of all-new material specific to each country he visited. Watch as Jim brings his relatable brand of comedy to Spain and Canada in these two new specials.
