From a press release:

Since the 1960s, the classic Charlie Brown holiday specials have aired on network television, originally showing on CBS and later ABC. In October, fans across the country were upset to learn that Apple TV+ obtained the exclusive rights to the “Peanuts” films, so the annual tradition would be broken this year as the shows went to a streaming service instead of regular TV.

Today, PBS announced that, perhaps in the spirit of the holidays, it has teamed up with Apple for special ad-free broadcasts of the animated programs for Thanksgiving and Christmas. In Northeastern Pennsylvania, PBS affiliate WVIA will air “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. on WVIA-TV and WVIA’s PBS Kids 24/7 channel. They will also stream live at wvia.org and on the PBS App for free at those times.

In addition, Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the gang will stream ad-free and in HD on Apple TV+. “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” will start streaming on Apple TV+ on Nov. 18, and it will be available to enjoy for free from Nov. 25 through Nov. 27. The Peanuts will also deck the halls with the premiere of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” on Apple TV+ on Dec. 4; it will be available for free from Dec. 11 through Dec. 13.

Halloween fans who feel it’s not too late can also watch “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” on Apple TV+.

VIA Public Media in Pittston, the PBS and NPR affiliate for Northeastern Pennsylvania, educates, inspires, entertains, and fosters citizenship, diverse cultures, and perspectives to nurture community.

WVIA-TV can be found on over-the-air antenna on channel 44 and on all major network providers in Northeast Pennsylvania and the Central Susquehanna Valley. WVIA carries PBS Kids programming all day on its second channel, 44.2; corresponding educational resources for PBS Kids programming can also be found at wvia.org.
