After an extremely difficult year for music venues, Karl Hall is finally bouncing back.

Today, the all-ages venue in downtown Wilkes-Barre announced the lineup of “Out Back at Karl Hall,” an outdoor concert series that begins on Sunday, May 30 and runs through Sept. 26.

Social distancing isn’t really possible inside the small 130-capacity basement venue, so these seven general admission shows will be held in the parking lot directly behind the building on Sunday afternoons. Gates will open at 2:30 p.m., and the music starts at 3 p.m.

Masks are required, and camping chairs and coolers with food and beverages are welcome for some overdue spring and summer fun.

“We’re super excited to be safely presenting the ‘Out Back at Karl Hall’ concert series with local, regional, and national talent chock full of NEPA natives,” Karl Hall owner and general manager AJ Jump said.

The lineup includes Scranton indie rock band Tigers Jaw, who played a virtual record release show at Karl Hall last month, as well as well-known local favorites Bret Alexander, Mike Miz, and Dustin Douglas. Additionally, bands like University Drive, Rosary Guild, and Bunny Lane & The Virgos will headline shows packed with local artists.

Tickets go on sale next Friday, April 30 at 10 a.m. via Eventbrite. For more information, visit karlhall.org or email info@karlhall.org.

Karl Hall (57 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre), which recently turned three years old, was closed for most of 2020 but was able to host one outdoor concert in its parking lot last October with The Husty Bros. and The Mule Team, which features Jump on drums. The independent venue also teamed up with the nearby Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza to host a virtual “NEPA Live From Home” music series and organize the massive “Come Together” drive-in benefit concert in the arena parking lot on July 16 that raised money for nonprofits, theaters, and performance centers affected by COVID-19.
