Wilkes-Barre’s Wolfpack Players are ‘All Shook Up’ by Elvis musical on May 6-9
From a press release:
The Wolfpack Players will present the Broadway musical “All Shook Up,” inspired by and featuring the songs of Elvis Presley, at GAR Memorial Junior/Senior High School in Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, May 6 through Sunday, May 9.
Combining classic Elvis tunes with an all-new story, “All Shook Up” shook up Broadway and received rollicking good reviews.
It’s 1955, and into a square little town in a square little state rides a guitar-playing young man who changes everything and everyone he meets. Loosely based on William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night,” this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy will have audiences jumpin’ out of their blue suede shoes with such hits as “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and “Don’t Be Cruel.”
Reestablished when Alice Y. Lyons took over the helm of advisor/director during the 2003-2004 school year, the Wolfpack Players Drama Club has blossomed into one of the best high school drama clubs in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Through extreme dedication and talent, the players put on three productions a year – two main stage musicals and a main stage play.
Starting with the 2019-2020 school year, Wilkes-Barre’s James M. Coughlin High School, Elmer L. Meyers Junior/Senior High School, and GAR High School have combined to form the Wolfpack Players.
Show dates at GAR High School (250 S. Grant St., Wilkes-Barre) are Thursday, May 6 at 7 p.m.;
Friday, May 7 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, May 8 at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, May 9 at 2 p.m.
