In 2020, Scranton became an unlikely hub for live concerts as outdoor drive-in shows became the norm during the COVID-19 pandemic. In an even more unpredictable move, DamnMillennial Promotions and local music venue Stage West made it a center for dubstep, drum and bass, and other electronic dance music with their “Pavement Rave” series in the Montage Mountain parking lot that attracted headliners like The Disco Biscuits, Sullivan King, Riot Ten, Adventure Club, Peekaboo, Boogie T, Liquid Stranger, and Subtronics, who is set to return next month.

Many of these events were sold out, and it seems like this year will be no different. Getting a much earlier start this time, the 2021 Pavement Raves began on Friday, April 23 with Florida dubstep artist Blunts & Blondes. Accompanied by his “buds” Mersiv, Jaenga, CHOMPPA, and Sacred Snow, the event sold out as fans danced and partied next to their socially distances vehicles, bathed in the bright lights and lasers emanating from the stage as the ground vibrated beneath them. Those looking for a more up-close-and-personal experience stayed up late for the official Blunts & Blondes afterparty at Stage West, which sold out even faster.

The series continues on Saturday, May 15 with 12th Planet, Riot Ten, Jantsen, Swarm, and Ruvlo. Now that people are getting vaccinated and the state has loosened restrictions, this Pavement Rave will be a “pod concert experience,” giving attendees sectioned-off 10-foot spaces to enjoy the show from; an afterparty with Riot Ten will follow at Stage West. Next month, Subtronics will bring the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour with HE$H, Level Up, and Guppi to Montage on Friday, June 18 and Saturday, June 19. Tickets for all these events are on sale now at stagewestlive.com.

While Camp Bisco, The Disco Biscuits’ annual music festival at The Pavilion at Montage Mountain, is still up in the air, its parking lot is guaranteed to provide plenty of EDM mayhem this summer.
