EXCLUSIVE: Electric City Music Conference announces 2022 dates and opens performance submissions in Scranton
Today, the Electric City Music Conference announced that the event will return to Scranton for its ninth year in September. The annual conference, music festival, and award show will be held from Thursday, Sept. 15 through Sunday, Sept. 18.
It has also opened submissions for musical performances by artists of any genre who would like to showcase their talents.
Unlike other music conferences, the ECMC allows local artists from the 570 area code to apply to perform for free through its website, electriccitymusicconference.com.
All regional, national, and international artists can apply to perform through a separate form found here that requires a small submission fee.
Due to continued COVID-19 concerns, last year’s conference was held in November. This year, it will return to its usual early September time frame. For the first time, it will add a Sunday morning and early afternoon wrap-up events to its schedule.
“Think brunch… with a creative twist,” ECMC co-founder Joe Caviston said.
The yearly conference features performances by over 150 acts throughout the Scranton area, the Steamtown Music Awards ceremony with new awards and special performances of its own, and free panel discussions, keynote speeches, and mentoring sessions for local musicians, professionals, and music fans.
“The conference and award ceremony is receiving a major revamp for its first ‘post-pandemic’ outing. In the coming weeks, a newly formed board of directors will be announced for the Electric City Music Conference, and an advisory committee – which will have award voting power – will be announced for the Steamtown Music Awards,” Caviston noted.
“Along with new faces, new performance guidelines and standardized award criteria and procedures will be made available to the public.”
Many announcements are in the pipeline for the ECMC, such as national headliners, venues, panelists, mentors, and a theme. All of this information will be exclusively released through NEPA Scene, the conference’s longtime press partner.
As the largest event of its kind in Northeastern Pennsylvania, this celebration of the diverse local music scene is much more than a music festival, bringing hundreds of artists and music industry professionals together annually to meet and network while recognizing and showcasing established and up-and-coming musicians.
