From a press release:

Audacy and its local radio stations 98.5 KRZ, Froggy 101, Max 102, and WILK 103.1 are partnering with the Lackawanna County Commissioners for the first-ever Lackawanna County Giveback on the Mountain Musicfest on Saturday, May 14.

Taking place from noon-8 p.m. at The Pavilion at Montage Mountain (1000 Montage Mountain Rd., Scranton), the new festival will feature all things Lackawanna and Northeastern Pennsylvania, including vendors of all kinds, restaurants, food trucks, wineries, and a variety of live musical acts selected from the county’s Music Re-Opening Act Grant performing on two stages.

This event is free to the public and the participating local businesses. After long lockdowns and quarantines, attendees will “finally be able to relax and enjoy a day of food, shopping, music, and fun with friends and family” – all while supporting small businesses and musicians who were among those who suffered most during the pandemic.

“The Lackawanna County Giveback on the Mountain Musicfest was born out of love for our little corner of Pennsylvania. NEPA is full of wonderful people, businesses, and talented musicians. We want to bring everyone together to celebrate our region for a fun-filled day on the mountain!” the festival’s website explains.

“It’s no secret that the pandemic has caused hardship for many people and businesses. This rings true for local musicians as well. The economic collapse of the local live music industry affected not only the musicians themselves, but countless others, including managers, sound technicians, stage crew, lighting directors, and many more. In 2021, the Lackawanna County Commissioners established the Lackawanna County Music Re-Opening Act Grant with American Rescue Plan Act funds to assist the local music industries in recovering from the repercussions left by the pandemic, and to promote the safe reopening of the county. Qualified musicians and DJs from Lackawanna County were invited to apply for the grant. A sampling of selected musicians will be performing live at the festival!

“In addition to the wonderful local musicians, local businesses and vendors will be on-hand displaying what they do best. You’ll enjoy music, food, shopping, and more!”
