It was announced today that stand-up comedian Sam Morril will bring his new Class Act Tour to the F.M. Kirby Center in Wilkes-Barre on, appropriately, April Fools’ Day – Saturday, April 1, 2023.

Morril is one of the fastest-rising stand-up comics in New York City and one of the best joke writers in the scene today. He was a regular on Comedy Central’s “This Week at the Comedy Cellar,” where he appeared frequently when not touring cities across the nation. He was named one of Comedy Central’s “Comics to Watch” in 2011 and has performed multiple stand-up sets on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” and “Conan.”

The 36-year-old has also had stints on “Last Comic Standing,” “America’s Got Talent,” “@midnight with Chris Hardwick,” and “Inside Amy Schumer.” He can be heard on the podcast “We Might Be Drunk” with co-host Mark Normand and seen on Netflix’s “That’s My Time with David Letterman.” His fourth stand-up special, “Sam Morril: Same Time Tomorrow,”­ can now be viewed on Netflix.

In 2021, Morril self-released his stand-up special “Up on the Roof,” in which he navigates performing live during COVID. In February of 2020, he released his third stand-up special for Comedy Central, “I Got This,” on their YouTube channel and received over 1.5 million views within the first two weeks. He then later released it as a comedy album with 800 Pound Gorilla Records.

In 2015, the comedian recorded his debut album, “Class Act,” with Comedy Central Records, which went to No. 1 on iTunes, made numerous Top 10 lists, and appeared on Season 4 of Comedy Central’s “The Half Hour.” His first one-hour special, “Amy Schumer Presents Sam Morril: Positive Influence,” premiered on Comedy Central in 2018.

Morril was the host of his very own show on MSG called “People Talking Sports,” which ran for two seasons and received an Emmy nomination. He also has a cameo in the Academy Award-nominated film “Joker” as an open mic comic.

Doors at the F.M. Kirby Center (71 Public Square, Wilkes-Barre) open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Tickets, which are $35, plus applicable fees, go on sale this Friday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. at the Kirby Center box office, online at kirbycenter.org and ticketmaster.com, and by phone at 570-826-1100. A Kirby Member pre-sale begins Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m.
