Go Bowling at The Glen was back at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, New York on Sunday, Aug. 20, the 25th race of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series.
William Byron started one behind pole sitter Denny Hamlin, however, when it came to the checkers, Byron took his fifth win of the season and Hamlin was left in second place. The number 24 car took its first lead in lap 21 and was in full command of the track on the way to Byron’s first road course victory.
This marked Hendrick Motorsports’ fifth straight win at Watkins Glen and ninth overall win of the 2018 Rookie of the Year’s young career. The win was also a grand homecoming for crew chief Rudy Fugle a native of Livonia, New York, just 70 miles north of The Glen.
